You can enrich your
life and the lives of animals by volunteering
your help at the Sanctuary. No one is too old or
too young. We have volunteers from 8 to 80+
years young.
Here is
what one of our volunteers had to say: "For a
half a day each week I set the rest of my busy
life aside and enjoy the presence of all of
these VERY interesting animals. While cleaning
the cages and feeding them, I interact with them
without usually touching them, but nonetheless
quite closely. These animals, from the smallest
monkey, Gidget, to the positively endearing
Spider monkeys, Blue and Candy, to the large
(VERY LARGE) gorilla, Otto, are happy, curious
and very communicative animals. (This is very
different from many animals I have seen in zoos,
who are so bored or depressed that one cannot
even get their attention.) Many welcome me as a
host or hostess would. Most have something to
say. Some even flirt. They know they are safe
and well cared for and it is my weekly pleasure
to see that they are doing so well and to share
their special world.
