Buddy - Lesser Spot-nosed Guenon!

Buddy is a Lesser spot nose guenon monkey who is really cute with a brown body and white nose.  Buddy was a pet monkey raised in a home with a human family.  In order to protect themselves, from bites, his previous owners had most of his front teeth extracted- only leaving a few in the back so he could chew his food.

Buddy is a very independent little monkey, but he also enjoys human contact and interaction.  He will stretch out in all sorts of different directions to be scratched and tickled.  He lives in a very tall enclosure which allows him to see all around the chimp farm.  Buddy loves to jump and fly through his enclosure, one of his favorite pastimes is jumping on his toys that are attached to bungy rope and bouncing up and down through the air.

Since Buddy has come to the sanctuary, we have been able to take him out for walks, and we also go into his house to interact with him, replace broken toys with new ones and deep clean.  His ability to remain calm under these situations has helped him become an animal actor in the TV series Second Noah in 1996.  Buddy enjoyed going on these field trips to Tampa (where the series was filmed) so much that all we had to do was ask him “Buddy want to go to Tampa?” And he would jump into the kennel cage for us and off we would go.Buddy closeup

In addition to being in a television show, Buddy was also an animal ambassador during some of our summer educational programs.  Buddy was a part of our educational group of animals that taught an important lesson to children of ages that is how to be a responsible pet owner and that exotic animals do not make good pets.  We are so fortunate to have Buddy as a part of our family, and want to thank everyone for choosing him to adopt and for supporting “Project Rebuild”.

Buddy loves to make faces at his visitors!
