	Sanctuary Now Open to the Public! We are pleased to announce that the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary is now open to the public! The hours for public access is Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. The donation is $10 for adults and $5 for children 3 - 10. So grab the family and come on out to visit us! Private memberships are also still available. Currently need volunteers, Tuesday - Fridays! Come visit our newest inhabitants! Pongo the orangutan, 4 lemurs and their new baby, Jackie the capuchin, see our new macaque building (will house 18 macaques), bird aviary, and more! Volunteer meeting every 2nd Saturday of each month - anyone who is interested in volunteering is welcome to attend. Please bring an application with you. We need your help! Due to the very cold weather we have been having, we desperately need the loan or gift of a generator to run the heat lamps for our primates. If you have a generator, or if you know someone who can help, please give us a call - we are trying very hard to keep all the animals warm. Kongo Oldest living chimp? Researcher says "yes!". We understand some people do not wish to give cash to an organization without knowing how it is spent. If you would like, you can donate directly to our suppliers to help the animals. We normally spend around $200 per month for animal food from Smelt. You can call Verizon to help pay the office telephone bill at 1-800-483-5000, Progress Energy at 464-4000 to help with the electric bill. Our electric is used to run refrigerators and a freezer to preserve our animal food as well as lighting for the Great Ape House and office. Also, during the cold months we put electric heaters on the animal houses. We hose all enclosures 2 times a day and use water in the food preparation area to clean fruits and vegetables. Grants for Sanctuary Foundation In late April the Sanctuary received a grant for $2,500 which resulted from an application we completed almost a year ago! Also, the DeBartolo Foundation just awarded the Spirit of Humanity Award in the amount of $10,000 to the Sanctuary Foundation! The award is pictured to the right! Thank you DeBartolo Foundation!
